Elections 2022 Coverage

In 2022, I focused on elections administration and security reporting. Through statewide training and collaborations, I worked to help local journalists hold their local election officials to account and educate their readers about election integrity. I also pursued elections process accountability coverage.

In collaboration with another freelance journalist, I uncovered how so-called “election integrity” groups aim to erode North Carolina’s democratic norms and institutions. Our work, supported by the Fund for Investigative Journalism, published in six partner outlets including The Guardian, The Assembly WFDD, WHQR, Chatham News and Record and Blue Ridge Public Radio.

‘Be like North Carolina’: rightwing election efforts signal growing US movement.
